Having good core technical skills can help in any career field. In business, having knowledge of various software, like Excel/Sheets and Word/Docs, greatly help in completing almost all tasks. As part of the HR department, I have to use more software to create our projects than just Word or Sheets; this page includes my experience using Fusion 360 (CAD software) and Photoshop (photo editing software).
One of my passions is 3D modeling. That's why I took on the responsibility of 3D modeling the employee of the month award. I used Fusion 360 to model the award, Cura to slice the file, and one of the school's Ultimaker 3 printers to print it. Above is the award design and final product. This award will be given out to every employee of the month starting January, and its goal is to recognize hard-working employees with a meaningful, tangible reward. I included the name of the employee winning the award, in this case, Connor Schreier, on the award base itself to personalize the award. Behind the base, the month and year of the award are written as well.
One major assignment that I helped with designing the company branding board for one of our competitions (and would be displayed at one local tradeshow). This board will be displayed on our booth to be voted on by other students who are participating in the tradeshow. Although I have a very basic understanding of Photoshop, I helped my colleagues in the HR department design the board by giving my input about what the information should be included and how the layout should look.
I plan to continue using the software I already know (Excel, Word, Slides, etc.) to complete any tasks in the future. I also hope to broaden my general knowledge of other software that I haven't used before, like different CAD software, Photoshop, Mint, and more. Although the new software I'm learning about isn't directly related to the company, I can take advantage of the software to create products for the company, like the employee of the month award or company-branded posters.
