Student demographics
Grossmont College's student population is increasingly diverse. As an Hispanic-Serving Institution, Grossmont College's Latinx student headcount has increased as a percentage of the total student population, surpassing the percentage of white students at the College in Fall 2019 (37%) and Fall 2020 (38%).
In addition, among Fall 2020 students:
60% identified as female
56% came from low-income households
46% were enrolled in 12 or more units
10% were first-time at Grossmont (both first-time to college and first-time to Grossmont after having enrolled at another college/university)
8% were concurrently enrolled in high school

Even before the pandemic, enrollment in online courses at Grossmont increased significantly - by 30% - from Fall 2016 to Fall 2019, even as our overall enrollment declined by nearly 9%.
Similarly, the number of students enrolled in at least one online class increased from 31% to 43%.
