Welcome to November at The Downtown School! Please see below for important information and dates.
As always, please reach out with any questions that may come up.
We are here to SERVE,
Mr. Burnett
We will have opportunities to visit a physical book fair while you're here during Conferences! Our online book fair will also be up and running. Check out the details below and online at the following link. We also have a volunteer opportunity to help ensure we have coverage throughout our Conference days. Please consider signing up for a block of time to help out!
We had 43 (Up 9 from last year) participants pledge their effort to The Downtown School! That directly brought in $1,146.15 towards our student activity funds!
Thank you to all of you that participated or helped to promote the effort!
Your student has created a piece of artwork at school that can be applied to a variety of objects for gifts/keepsakes. It is looking like we will have these delivered around the Holidays.
Examples of products that can have your students' artwork on them can be found at the link below.

Adopt-a-Teacher Fund
The PTA collects money throughout the year to support various needs our teachers may have in the classroom. The dollars collected are distributed evenly each year and it the best way to provide support throughout the entire school. This is a wonderful way to support our school and your child's classroom as they can be used to meet individual needs of classrooms.
This is also an excellent replacement to any gifts that you may be thinking of providing your Teacher as we are not legally allowed to accept gifts over $4.00 in value. :-)
You can donate anytime at the link below.
A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to Jennifer Warner-Blankenship for donating her time and materials in making our playground a more beautiful and interactive space!
Now that our District is finalizing their calendar, we are hard at work on what ours will look like this next year. It is looking like our calendar will look very similar to this years with some more frequent/longer breaks and our year extending well into June. As soon as I can get confirmation on our District calendar, I will have a draft out to our community for feedback.
Every other year, The Downtown School puts on an Auction for various products/services that our community has a connection to. This is by far our largest fundraiser! Our auction will be on April 20th at Ricochet in downtown Des Moines. In the meantime, we would LOVE if you could help us begin compiling the list of possible items/services to be auctioned off. Be thinking of a special experience you could provide another family, any connections to businesses that might want to donate something, or any other service or item that you think could bring in to generate some auction action! Please email the following PTA volunteers for ideas and donations towards the cause!
Those of you wanting to donate to the cause, but not participate can use the link below to donate.
