SUMMARY AND SUGGESTION
Participating in the SEA Teacher Program at the University of Northern Philippines was a valuable and unforgettable experience for me as a pre-service teacher. This program provided an opportunity not only to gain international teaching experience but also to learn about different cultures, educational systems, and classroom environments in another country.
During the program, I had the opportunity to observe classes, prepare lesson plans, conduct teaching practices, and perform a final demonstration teaching. These experiences helped me develop my teaching skills, improve my confidence in communicating in English, and understand how to manage a classroom with students from different cultural backgrounds. Teaching Grade 7 students at the UNP Laboratory School allowed me to apply the pedagogical knowledge I have learned in my university and experience real classroom situations.
In addition to teaching practice, the program also provided cultural immersion activities such as the DALLIASAT program and the Kartini x Gabriela Day celebration. These activities helped me gain a deeper understanding of the culture, traditions, and values of the Ilocano community and strengthened the sense of friendship and collaboration among participants from different countries.
Overall, the SEA Teacher program greatly contributed to my personal and professional development as a future educator. The experience broadened my perspective on education and inspired me to continue improving my teaching abilities in order to become a more competent and globally minded teacher.
For future implementation, it would be beneficial if the SEA Teacher program could continue to expand opportunities for cultural exchange and professional collaboration among participants. Providing more opportunities for interaction with local students, teachers, and communities could further enhance the learning experience of pre-service teachers.
In conclusion, this program has given me meaningful learning experiences that I will carry throughout my journey as an educator. I am very grateful for the opportunity to be part of the SEA Teacher Program and for the support from the University of Northern Philippines, my home university, and everyone who contributed to this valuable experience.
