SEA TEACHER
Participating in an international teaching program is a valuable opportunity for pre-service teachers to broaden their perspectives in education and culture. One of the programs that provides this opportunity is the SEA Teacher Program (Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia), which is organized by the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO).
The SEA Teacher Program allows student teachers from universities across Southeast Asia to gain teaching experience in schools abroad while learning about different educational systems and cultural environments. During the program, participants take part in several academic activities such as class observation, lesson planning, teaching practice, and final demonstration teaching in their host schools.
Through this blog, I would like to invite readers to explore my journey as a participant in the SEA Teacher Program in the Philippines. In this blog, I share my experiences throughout the program, including my teaching practicum, cultural activities, and the places I had the opportunity to explore during my stay.
My name is Faiza Aulia Faheem Aqilla, an English student from Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta, Indonesia. I participated in the 11th Batch of the SEA Teacher Program, which was conducted from January 12, 2026 to February 9, 2026.
During the program, I was hosted by the University of Northern Philippines in the Philippines and conducted my teaching practicum at the UNP Laboratory School. I had the opportunity to teach Grade 7 students in the English subject.
Through this program, I gained valuable experiences in observing classroom activities, preparing lesson plans, and conducting teaching practices. This experience helped me improve my teaching skills while also allowing me to learn more about the Philippine educational environment.
