The research agenda for this project revolves around the role that local religious institutions play in community food insecurity issues. This project is an ethnographic endeavor, wherein the lived experiences of both the project participants as well as the researchers themselves are included in the analytical process. This means that we, the research team leadership and members, respect and value our position as community members, and seek to better our community through the scientific analysis of the issues it faces.
In addition to furthering the research agenda, we offer practical and innovative tools to participants who want to expand (or begin) their efforts to fight hunger in the community. We seek to create a network of religious organizations that cooperate in food production for the express purpose of supplementing food provision efforts.
