Jason graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1997. He led his Greyhounds in receptions both his junior and senior seasons. Following his junior season, Jason was chosen as a Public Opinion All Star 2nd team defensive back. During his senior season, Jason was given All-Conference status as a wide receiver, and was named to Public Opinion's All Star 1st team as a wide receiver. He led the Mid-Penn Conference in yards-per-catch.
From 1997-2002, Jason studied art and elementary education at Shippensburg University. During his first year of college, Jason volunteered at his alma mater, coaching wide receivers and defensive backs under his high school head coach, Chance Powell. In 1998, he became a paid assistant as well as the head junior varsity coach. He held this position for four years, coaching under Chance Powell and Mike Burket. During Jason's final year in college, he had an opportunity to play wide receiver and was involved in many special teams for the newly created Cumberland Valley Cardinals Semi-Professional football team.
In 2003, Jason received his first teaching position, 7th grade English, at James Buchanan Middle School. While teaching in the Tuscarora School District, he served as head ninth grade football coach, and also coached wide receivers and defensive backs for both the varsity and junior varsity Rockets squads under head coach Kevin Gustafson. In addition, he was the head 7th grade girls basketball coach.
From 2007-2009, Jason was the offensive line coach at Shippensburg High School, and coordinated the Greyhounds' special teams for his final two years under head coach Eric Foust. During these three years, he helped Shippensburg reach the District 3 playoffs twice. He was also the head junior varsity coach during this time. For three years prior to this, Jason was the head ninth grade football coach in Shippensburg. During the 2005-2006 season, his freshman team ended one point shy of an undefeated season. He taught 4th grade for six years at Shippensburg Area Intermediate School and James Burd Elementary School.
In 2010, Jason served as the Carlisle Thundering Herd's offensive coordinator for first-year head coach Josh Oswalt. In addition, he coached the linebackers on the defensive side of the ball. Jason taught 6th grade Science at Carlisle's Lamberton Middle School for two years.
In 2011, Jason volunteered at Gettysburg High School under head football coach Raymond Gouker. He was the Warriors' special teams coordinator and helped coach the offensive line and defensive secondary.
For three seasons, beginning in 2012, Jason was the head football coach at New Oxford High School. In his first season, he doubled the teams' win total; and in 2013 he guided the program to a 6-5 record and its first playoff appearance since 2009. Jason also taught middle school social studies at New Oxford Middle School from 2012-2017.
From 2015-2016, Jason returned to Gettysburg High School as an assistant coach. In 2015, he helped Carlos Wampler coach the freshmen football team, and the following year was promoted to varsity offensive coordinator, helping Matt Heiser's Warriors to a 6-4 record.
In July 2018, Jason was named head football coach of the Fairfield Knights varsity football team. He is thankful for the opportunity and looks forward to bringing passion and excitement to the program. Jason and his coaching staff are extremely excited about working and building relationships with the student-athletes of Fairfield. They hope to increase participation and take the football program to the next level.
Jason's wife, Casey, is the athletic director at Gettysburg High School. He and his wife live in Gettysburg and have three children; Cooper, Campbell, and Callie.
