My name is Fahmida Fakhruddin! I have been an instructor in Economics at Evergreen Valley College since 2017. I was a researcher at Stanford University before coming to Evergreen College. I came to teach at community college because making a difference in students’ lives brings me joy. I can relate to the struggle students face, having faced similar issues as a foreign student myself. I wanted to prepare myself to become an effective and engaging online instructor.
I started my journey with the Humanizing Online Teaching and Learning course where I learned how to infuse social presence in online teaching. As I continued to take courses from @ONE, I soon realize the importance of incorporating other teaching principles such as digital citizenship, equity, dynamic teaching , and lifelong learning in online course design.
This site is my final capstone project for the CVC-OEI/ @ONE Advanced Certificate in Online Teaching Principles. I invite you to explore work that demonstrates my growth and development in the five @ONE Principles for Quality Online Teaching. On the pages of this site, you will find examples from my online teaching and personal reflections about my journey through the four professional development courses that comprise the program for the CVC-OEI/ @ONE Advanced Certificate in Online Teaching Principles. I'd like to thank all of my instructors and colleagues from @ONE especially my mentor Colleen Harmon for her awesome support and feedback.
