Blackout Poetry: "Censorship Divides Us, Poetry Liberates Us" Activity
The Blackout Poetry: "Censorship divides us, poetry liberates us" activity aimed to raise awareness among student audiences about censorship in literature. For the activity, students took pages from a discarded book and used markers to obscure certain parts of the text while leaving others visible, thus creating an original poem. For many, it was an exercise in reflection and therapeutic relaxation.
BiblioVerde Activity (GreenLibrary)
The BiblioVerde activity brought an eco-friendly bazaar of local shops and organizations dedicated to protecting the environment to the Lázaro Library at UPRRP. During the activity, I represented the UNESCO Chair of Education for Peace with an activity where people wrote a wish or message about nature on a piece of recycled paper and then hung it on the Tree of Wishes. We also talked about a children's book that told the story of Wangari Maathai, the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize, who did a lot to protect the trees in Africa.
"Encounters for Children's Rights" Activity
At the "Encounters for Children's Rights" activity, there were many workshops and educational areas for the public. As part of the UNESCO Chair of Education for Peace, I assisted in the workshop we offered for children. In our workshop, children had their silhouette drawn, and then they filled the space with words that described them while we explained their rights to them.
Exhibition of Posters for 19 Days of Activism
This exhibition, called "19 Days of Activism for the Prevention of Abuse and Violence against Children and Youth", consisted of informational posters designed by me that displayed data and information on urgent issues in the world and the country such as gender-based violence, child abuse, neglect, etc. The data was collected by my colleagues, and I formatted it into posters to be exhibited and also posted on the social media of the UNESCO Chair of Education for Peace. This activity was in support of the annual 16 Days of Activism campaign by the Women’s World Summit Foundation.
