Submission:
Each week, you will need to take a screen shot of your blog entry (including the date) and submit that with the working URL to Canvas. Each blog entry must be at least 250 words and must include the word count at the end of your post. You will want to develop your ideas, write, revise, and edit each entry before you post to the public. Please be mindful that these are public posts so DO NOT post any personal information such as your address or personal phone number. You can even use a pseudonym if that is more comfortable for you. In addition, since these are posts for school, posts that are racist, sexist, or support hateful actions/words will not be tolerated. Please be as courteous to your digital audience as you are expected to be in person.
For 10 weeks of our semester, our class will have various texts/videos uploaded to the discussion boards on Canvas to read and discuss. This will serve as our in-class discussions as we spend this semester learning more about issues that impact our society on various levels and how they are argued rhetorically by authors. Each week, students will log onto Canvas to the discussion boards and read the required readings for the week. Readers will also see supplemental readings they are encouraged to read, but not required to. However, if students are looking to earn an “A” in the class, they should read and respond to all of the texts. The articles will be posted Monday and discussions and responses need to be completed by Sunday at midnight. After reading, writers will:
1) Respond to the text in a 250-word minimum response. Posts must be well thought-out, developed, revised, and edited. Students are also required to embed at least one quote from the text into the response to support the writing. Students are encouraged to put the source into MLA format and include the citation at the end of their response.
2) Reply to at least one peer’s post with a thoughtful, developed comment. The response to a peer must be at least 50 words and should directly related to the text read for class.
