Hi! I'm Serena Collier and I look forward to working with you. Here's a bit about me!
Welcome to our English 120 course for the fall 2024 semester! I am very excited to be your instructor for this course. This may be the first college course you are taking or you may be have taken several semesters worth of courses. Either way, welcome! Our course will be fully online but I am available throughout the week to support your learning, provide feedback, and engage in academic conversations. I'm looking forward to working with each of you toward your success!
Remember, if you get confused or overwhelmed at any time, contact me! I am here to help you be successful in completing the work for this course.
Our course will be interactive! Learning will be facilitated through:
Project-based learning
Discussion board conversations
Small group collaboration
Technology (such as Canvas, Google Sites, Canva.com, Google Docs, and more)
And more!
How this course works: You will see in the syllabus that we have various assignments throughout the semester. Each week on Canvas, you will see a new MODULE open up every Monday which is due to be completed by Sunday night. All the lecture information, assignments and submissions will be completed by working through each module. I recommend you designate an hour or two every day (more if needed) to work specifically on this course. Otherwise, it will be easy to fall behind.
Required Materials:
Access to a computer, internet, printer, e-mail, and various free Google applications; notebook for lectures; pencils; one novel to be borrowed or purchased later in the semester not to exceed $20
Other Recommended Materials:
Thumb-drive, stapler, binder
Note: There are no textbooks required for this class in order to keep the cost as low as possible for you. The book we will read later in the semester is typically available through the City or County library systems and can be digital or print
