For our second activity, we will hear from Scott about the health consequences of extreme weather - and more importantly, what we can do to protect ourselves, our families and our communities. Scott draws on his experience in the nursing field to give us some good, practical advice on how to respond to weather extremes in different At Large Communities.
For our third activity we will explore what the most likely types of extreme weather events will be for different At Large Communities in coming years. Arming ourselves with this information can help us to plan and adapt.
Click on the map markers to see the information for each community. You will see images in the side panel on the left, if you click on the image it will open up and provide you with a slide show about the most likely extreme weather events for that location. You can see where the information comes from and how the map was built on the Weather and Health Data page and the How-to Guides page.
Please note that all locations are approximate and all information in the map was obtained through publicly available websites. We used county-level data for each location to simplify the activity, even though we realize that At Large Communities may cover multiple counties. We apologize for any inaccuracies.
