a Singapore non-profit organisation
Engineering Good (EG) is a Singapore based non-profit organisation that supports people with disabilities and disadvantaged communities through engineering and technology solutions. This is done through Assistive Technology and Digital Inclusion initiatives.
Assistive Technology (AT) empowers people with disabilities through low cost and easily accessible materials to meet their needs. AT is open sourced, and EG hacks low cost designs that can help low income families. EG also connects engineers from all over to come up with designs and take on problem statements and work on projects. EG runs events such as the Tech For Good Festival for youths to develop solutions that address daily challenges faced by disability groups.
Here are some examples of the AT that EG hacks:
Heres another example of AT. This is a braille box made using a 3d printer and chopsticks! It is low cost and great for practice!
And this is a one hand nail clipper made using 3d printer!

So while IDEO is all about human centred design, EG is about helping disadvantaged communities through designs which are low cost and use easily accessible materials.
Digital inclusion (DI), mainly consists of laptop repairs. EG collects, refurbish and provide laptops to disadvantaged communities to enable them to be digitally connected. However, EG does not work with the beneficiaries directly but rather works with social service agencies who will distribute them to families.
