Some are just dumb like the flat earth claims while others like anti-vaccination claims are part of larger efforts to undermine people's faith in science and scientists. Professor Dave (Professor Dave Explains on YouTube) has been a leading voice in challenging false claims and showing how these do not stand up to scrutiny.
