Exodus 12:40-42
The Exodus
40 Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt was 430 years. 41 At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the LORD's divisions left Egypt. 42 Because the LORD kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the LORD for the generations to come.
The Israelites were in Egypt for 430 years...Moses (and later Joshua) would lead the Exodus to the promised land...It would be a wandering journey for many years for the Hebrew people...This wandering journey would take a nation of slaves in Egypt and make them a country of law(s) in the promised land...A land full of milk and honey...The land God promised Abraham...The Hebrew people were now on their way (to the promised land)...
But on the way this wandering journey there would be many lessons in life...The Israel people (the twelve tribes of Jacob) would be very much tested in the desert and one of their biggest challenges would be to trust in the LORD...Through the heat of the desert, sometimes lack of water, sometimes lack of food, getting along with others, challenging the leaders, and the challenges just traveling on foot in a desert, the Israeli's would persevere with God at their sides...They faced many, many other challenges over their years to reach their goal of the promised land...
Life is a wandering journey as we go through it...It is faced with many challenges...We should trust in God...He is at our side to see us through...
