Metacognition is knowing what you know, and what you don't know. It is having an understanding of your own knowledge about a task or topic. This skill helps students learn better and do their best work.
What are some examples of metacognition?
Thinking about a topic before you learn about it
Deciding what you have to do before starting a project
Going back over a test to make sure you answered all questions completely
Reviewing your progress at the end of a lesson to see what you have learned
