Format & Content
One first-author abstract submission per trainee. Abstracts should include the following sections, with sections labeled accordingly: 1) Introduction 2) Methods 3) Results and 4) Conclusions
Abstracts should be text-only (figures/tables are not permitted).
Authors may use abstracts that were previously submitted for publication or presented in scientific conferences.
Abstracts do not need to include in-text references or a reference section.
Body of abstract is limited to 350 words. Word count does not include title and authors.
Please note: All submissions are final; we will not allow re-submissions. If you would like to retract your abstract, please email dpac.jhpda@gmail.com. A list of presentations (title only) will be available the day-of retreat. Please make sure your PI and co-authors are aware of your abstract submission. All presentations will be recorded and may be used in promotional material by DPAC.
EiD 2023 will feature two types of presentations:
Posters: will be displayed on December 15th in the Turner Auditorium - trainees will be asked to bring a printed poster on the day of the event.
Flash-talks : 5-minute virtual talks with power point presentations - only for trainees from schools/institutions outside of Baltimore .
*All presentations will be recorded and may be used in promotional material by DPAC.
At the time of abstract submission you can choose to be considered for an award.
Tow finalists for each category will be selected based on the merit of their abstract. (More information about the criteria can be found here)
The finalists will be notified prior to the conference and will be asked to prepare a 2-minute informal talk about their work. The talk can be accompanied by a single power-point slide.
Finalists will be asked to present their work during the Award Ceremony, in the Turner Auditorium. A first prize and an honorable mention will be given for each category.
Abstracts will be reviewed by scientists from a wide range of disciplines. Therefore, it is highly recommended that abstracts be written (or revised) for a general academic audience.
For trainees from schools/institutions outside of Baltimore, awards will be announced on Thursday 14th, at the end of the virtual Flash-talk session
