Finalists Selection  Criteria

I. Finalist Selection Process: 

• At the time of abstract submission you can choose to be considered for an award.

• Tow finalists for each category will be selected based on the merit of their abstract. (More information about the criteria can be found below)

• The finalists will be notified prior to the conference and will be asked to prepare a 2-minute informal talk about their work. The talk can be accompanied by a single power-point slide.

• Finalists will be asked to present their work during the Award Ceremony, in the Turner Auditorium. A first prize and an honorable mention will be given for each category. 

• Abstracts will be reviewed by scientists from a wide range of disciplines. Therefore, it is highly recommended that abstracts be written (or revised) for a general academic audience.

• For trainees from schools/institutions outside of Baltimore, awards will be announced on Thursday 14th, at the end of the virtual Flash-talk session

II. Criteria to be evaluated

• Comprehension and content

  1. Abstract provided clear background and significance to the research question

  2. Abstract clearly described the research strategy/design and the results/findings of the research

  3. Abstract clearly described the conclusions, outcomes, and impact of the research

• All presentations - should be prepared for a general academic audience.
