Auditions to join 2026 String Ensemble will re-open Term 4, 2025**
Please look out for our advertisement in school newsletter at end of Term 3 or early Term 4 of 2025 for 2026 entry
For children who are new to our String Program, not an existing member of any of our String Ensembles, and meet the minimum criteria set out in Strings Program - auditions are held in Term 4.
EWPS Strings Committee runs auditions for new members keen to be a part of our EWPS String Ensemble.

Complete this online EOI form at (To be advised in the school newsletter - keep an eye out for it).
Strings Manager will contact you for an audition.
Please come to the audition with following prepared:
Play one piece of your choice; and
Play one scale of your choice; and
Sight-reading
** Trials have now been closed for existing members and will re-open Term 4, 2025 **
Please look out for messages via your ensemble coordinators.
For existing members in any of our string ensembles (except for Training String Ensemble) who wish to progress to the next ensemble - trials are held in Term 4.

Ensemble coordinators will endevaour to inform parents at least a month in advance on timing of the trials. Trials are run during normal rehearsal times.
Please come to the trials with following prepared:
Play one piece of your choice; and
Play one scale of your choice; and
Sight-reading
A number of factors impact a student's ability to move to the next level of ensemble group. In addition to the minimum criteria above, the Conductor will take into consideration the following, but not limited to:
Consistent quality playing during rehearsals
Behaviour and attitude
Preparation / music practice
Punctuality and attendance rate
It is also important to understand that music ensemble skills are different to child's awarded grade or grade of study. Hence, students may be placed in an ensemble level which is different to their grade of study. Students are placed in the ensemble level in which they can be both successful and challenged. Final ensemble placement and positions within the ensemble are at the discretion of the conductors.
