Evi Gorogianni is a Professor of Instruction at the University of Akron. She holds her degrees from the University of Cincinnati (Ph.D. and M.A.), and the University of Athens (B.A.) and is an archaeologist and an expert of the Ancient Mediterranean World, especially the archaeology of the Aegean. Her research focuses on the household in the ancient world and cultural contact during the 2nd millennium BCE in the Aegean (Greece). Her publications include Beyond Thalassocracies. Understanding Processes of Minoanisation and Mycenaeanisation in the Aegean (edited volume with P. Pavúk, and L. Girella, Oxbow Books, 2016) and several papers in edited volumes, as well as in peer-reviewed journals such as Hesperia, Aegean Archaeology, and American Journal of Archaeology. Her distinctions include the Niarchos Greek Diaspora Fellowship, the INSTAP Post-Doctoral Fellowship, and the Notre Dame Institute of Advanced Study Distinguished Fellowship, as well as the Faculty Champion Award (for Experiential Learning) from the EX[L] Center of The University of Akron. Her current projects are the study of the MBA ceramic assemblage discovered recently under the classical theater of Karthaia on Kea and the study of large storage jars from the site of Ayia Irini, on Kea (Greece).
