About Me!
My name is Eve Candell, I am 22 years old and an English Language Arts preservice teacher currently located in Logan, Utah. I have lived in Salt Lake County for about 8 years, and have been working on my undergraduate degree in secondary English Education from Utah State University since August of 2021. I moved from Southern California to Salt Lake Valley in 2015 and spent the vast majority of my middle and high school years in Draper, Utah.
I have known since early 2021 that I wanted to work in education, and after bouncing around several different programs and exploring my general interests, I knew that English was the subject that I was most passionate about teaching, and a career option I could see myself committing to. Although I began as an art education major, I have come to further develop my love and passion for teaching English and creating a safe and conducive environment for my prospective students to thrive.
I have spent the past year working as an after-school tutor at an elementary school in Cache County, and I have valued my time spent with younger children, I am so grateful for the opportunities I have had to learn from them in ways that are different from learning from middle and high school students.
As I enter secondary classrooms for the first time as an educator and student over the next year, I cannot wait to be able to continue to learn in a more hands-on environment and be able to connect with real-life students on a more personal level. I was extremely privileged to have wonderful teachers throughout middle and high school who showed me what good teachers could do for students, and who inspired me to enter the field myself one day.
