The DP is the best college preparatory program available to high school students. In the DP, students will become well-rounded learners with excellent time-management skills. The will think critically about their subjects, a skill which colleges demand. More scholarship opportunities are available for students in the DP program than any other group.
DP students are also leaders in the school, participating in many clubs and activities -- including sports, student government, and academic honor societies. These activities support students' academic goals, and vice-versa.
Smaller class sizes allow for individualized attention, and weekly tutoring in each subject is offered. We encourage all students to participate in tutoring, regardless of grades. All courses are taught over two years, which allows students to gain truly in-depth knowledge and understanding, as well as building a strong relationship with the teacher.
At the conclusion of 12 grade, DP students will take a series of exams, in order to demonstrate their knowledge and ability to apply what they have learned. A student who performs satisfactorily on these exams will be eligible for the IB Diploma, recognized worldwide. The IB diploma helps qualify for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship, which pays for 100% of tuition at a Florida public colleges.
It is the belief of the Evans faculty that every student can earn the IB Diploma, and we will support students in every way to help achieve that goal.

CAS allows students to demonstrate their place in the community, explore personal interests, and develop physically as well as academically.
It provides opportunities for self-determination and collaboration with others, fostering a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from their work.
Students will complete a CAS project of their choosing in one of these areas: Creativity, Activity, or Service, or the may combine all 3. Some examples are:
Creativity
a talented musician could learn a particularly difficult piece, or a different style of playing.
a student who keeps a journal could reflect on that practice
Activity
Activity may be sports-related or competitive, but does not have to be. As and example, a valuable activity project could help a student overcome a personal fear of water by learning to swim.
Service
Service projects must be beneficial for the community as well as providing a learning opportunity for the student. An example would be organizing school-wide recycling, or lobbying the city council to install more crosswalks.
The EE is a piece of independent, self-directed, research in an area that the student chooses. Over their time in the DP, students will learn college-level research skills. They will have hands-on experience in a university research library, with guidance from university faculty as well as DP teachers. Colleges often expect that students already have these skills when they arrive, and our students will be experts.
Using the skills that they learn, DP students will investigate a research question of their choosing. They will work closely with a faculty supervisor, examine sources, conduct experiments, and share their findings in a research paper.
Students will begin this process in the middle of the junior year, and will complete it approximately one year later.
