The Evans IB course progression includes Florida's Pre-IB coursework, in 9th and 10th grades, and the IB Diploma Program (DP) for 11th-12th graders.
Through their IB experience, they will engage with the IB Learner Profile to help students grow, and achieve their goals.
Florida's Pre-IB provides students with a strong foundation for success in the upper-level Diploma Program and aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning.
In these classes, students will:
take academic core courses at the Honors and Advanced Placement levels
learn research and self-management skills to support academic success
choose from a variety of elective courses
be encouraged to be active participants in their school and community through service
expand their learning beyond the school curriculum to include their own creativity and extracurricular activities
The DP is an assessed program for students in grades 11 and 12. It is respected by leading universities across the globe.
DP students have an advantage over non-DP students when it comes to college admissions. College admissions officers report that DP students are:
more prepared for college work
more likely to be admitted to competitive colleges
more likely to be remain and be successful in college
Through the DP, students are able to:
have excellent breadth and depth of knowledge
flourish physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically
study at least two languages
excel in traditional academic subjects
explore the nature of knowledge through the program’s unique theory of knowledge course.
At the conclusion of the Diploma Program, students will take a series of exams that will allow them to demonstrate their knowledge in an authentic way. Students who perform to a high degree will earn the IB Diploma, recognized by universities and institutions worldwide.
Florida's Pre-IB courses are designed to help prepare students for the IB Diploma Program, but are not a part of the IB Continuum.
