Status of European Journalists

Due to the fact that journalists are not bound by an obligation to register at a specific professional registry, there are not official figures on the number of journalists that work in the Netherlands.

However, according to the Dutch Union of Journalists (Nederlandse Vereniging van Journalisten - NVJ) there are approximately 10,000 Dutch journalists active in the Netherlands

or acting as foreign correspondents.
