Join Etz JIAC Oct 11, 11am: CA Assemblyman Marc Berman on Ethnic Studies and the Jewish Caucus

Etz Chayim’s Jewish and Israel Action Committee (Etz JIAC) invites you to join us at 11am on Sunday October 11, 2020 for a discussion with California Assemblyman and Etz Chayim member, Marc Berman.

Speaker: California Assemblymember, Marc Berman

Marc will discuss the goals and activities of the California Legislative Jewish Caucus, including the Ethnic Studies Curriculum as well as several other topics. He is ideally positioned to address California’s relationship with issues of Jewish and Israeli concern. He would also love to answer questions on any topics regarding the California – Israel relationship.

Marc Berman was elected to the California Assembly in November 2016 to represent the 24th District, which includes southern San Mateo County and northern Santa Clara County in the heart of Silicon Valley. In the Assembly, Marc serves as chair of the Committee on Elections and Redistricting and the Select Committee on the Census.

He also chairs the Select Committee on the Master Plan for Higher Education in California, which is taking a methodical review of the 1960 Master Plan to ensure that California’s higher education system works for students in the 21st century economy.

Marc has authored legislation in the Assembly covering a diversity of issues, including elections, the 2020 Census, education, youth mental health, sexual assault, firearm safety, deep fakes, housing, and the environment. In his first three years in office, Marc has sent 47 bills to the Governor and has had one of the highest rates of success in the Legislature.

We did not record the talk, but Marc has supplied us with links to some reference materials:

The Etz Jewish and Israel Action Committee (Etz JIAC) is a group of congregants who are proud and inspired by the accomplishments and contributions of Israel and Jews. We are engaged in articulating the positive aspects of Jews and Israel and working to refute both misunderstandings and deliberate lies of the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement as well as anti-Israel and anti-Semitic activities on middle school, high school and college campuses across the country. We arrange for guest speakers, and provide occasional update and action alert emails so that recipients can make their voices heard. For more information, see our website: http://Etz-Jiac.org
