New Philosopher is a student-led initiative that is aiming to provide publication opportunities for high schoolers. Inspired by Plato's idea of symposium, we want to make our community open, friendly and accessible for every high schooler.ย
Philosophy, or any other the humanities subjects, is knowledge, we believe, the expression of ideas can maximize the functioning of philosophy. Our passion about philosophy will change the world in the future!ย
Introductionย
New Philosophers is a sub-project under the management of EthicSphere student-led initiative.ย
Similarly, we start this program as a true high school journal publisher, and we believe the initiative and the opportunities we provide can influence our participants to find their goals in their humanities journeys. The gap between professional level work and high schooler level work is totally different. We think, the chance to knowledge should be equal to everyone, that is what motivates us to keep moving.ย
New Philosophers is a free submission and publication initiative that we receive work from different people, not only high schoolers. We believe everyone has the potential to be a writer. Philosophy means thinking in ancient Greek. It is a subject about thinking and communication. Join our EthicSphere Study Hub for quick learning and scanning interesting topics which deserves discussion.ย
New Philosophers -- Philosophy in Actionย
Philosophy is a fundamental subject in humanities. It relates to the fundamental questions about who we are, where we from and where we will go. Philosophy is related to your foundation as a person -- how you recognize, identify and value yourself. It is such a valuable power that you can hardly learn in any other humanity subjects.ย
In reality, New Philosophers are for those who are interested in philosophy research or writing. In addition, you don't have to be "professional" in philosophy. Your interest is the biggest talent you have.ย
At the same time, our community encourages conversations on the humanities subjects, relating to history, sociology, literature and political science.
Why Start -- Quick Overview of New Philosopher
The founder Yaxin (Amy) Sun discovered the weakness on philosophy learning, that is, the huge gap between professional research and high school journals. It is hard for high school students to learn philosophy on their own, because of the massive amount of reading and advanced writing. Additionally, many schools don't offer philosophy learning -- or, many humanity subjects teens can touch in high school are limilted. However, she thought the value of philosophy is underrated seriously, that, the subject inspires people most about thinking and analysis is ignored by so many students. By contract, those who show thick interest in philosophy turn to find it hard for learning.ย
We don't expect for quantity. We aim for quality. It is the true nature of "Philosophy in Action". We cannot teach someone to be a philosopher, but we do provide the pathways you can try for approaching the dream. We need you, a new and curious philosopher, to be a real thinker, dreamer and creator.ย
