The first EthicSphere Cross-Cultural Meeting took place on 12/27/2025 at 6:00 p.m. PT / 12/28/2025 at 10:00 a.m. CST online, connecting students from the U.S. and China. The meeting created a chill environment that encouraged students to talk with their families about their lives and opinions. We received many supportive messages from participants in both China and the U.S.
This meeting enhances our understanding of humanities studies — Humanities happen alongside the discourse. The more we discuss, the more we can know.
However, the limitation is that students in China do not communicate as effectively as American students. The next meeting should aim to resolve this problem.
We will schedule more meetings like this to support international communication in the future.
Among the 28 students engaged, over 14 students answered questions; over 8 students were active the whole time!
We received so much supportive feedback, and some students reflected that they would like to join again!
In this meeting, I learned how to communicate with people across the world. Students in different countries always make different choices and have different identities. However, they are not the reasons for us to stop connecting and learning.
We heard from many students about their unique ideas on family, their lives, and even the culture we live in. This cross-cultural meeting is unique for both Chinese and U.S. students. To this extent, we would continue developing international conversation. Because it is naturally deep and innovative.
During the meeting, I was very grateful for having the opportunity to communicate with both my friends from the U.S. and China. We had a lot of fun sharing life experiences and discussing how culture varies across different aspects, but all of it can bring us joy and happiness.
Communicating with people from different cultural backgrounds helps us develop an open-minded perspective and enrich our understanding of humanistic themes. We would look forward to hosting more cultural discussion meetings in the future and continuing to explore more interesting topics.
