Centered around using light to create an open, safe, and sacred space for fostering relationships, worship, and communion.
Light symbolizes God and time, and the sundial serves as a physical representation of this concept.
The dome structure provides a sense of quietness, intimacy, and freedom of motion. The building incorporates multiple layers that serve both practical and aesthetic purposes. These layers protect the building from the elements, such as rain and wind, while allowing filtered light to enter, creating a unique play of light and shadow within the space.
A curved ramp leads to the central space symbolizes longevity and creates a sense of compression and release as it rises close to the ceiling before opening up to the amphitheater inside.
The interior features amphitheater-style seating to foster a sense of inclusion and community engagement, making everyone feel part of the space. Each amphitheater row is aligned with the shadows cast by the round opening at the top to act as a sundial, giving added functionality and a unique aesthetic character.
The design incorporates various architectural elements and principles to create a functional and visually appealing space, emphasizing the significance of light in fostering connection and spiritual experience.
