Great news! This is a ZTC (Zero Textbook Costs) course! In an effort to cut direct costs of education for my students, there is no "traditional" hard copy textbook purchase required for this course. Each module will include uploaded readings. We will be reading articles, research papers, scholarly journals, and chapter excerpts from various authors.
One of our main sources will be an INTRODUCTION TO ETHNIC STUDIES online textbook (after clicking on the link, you may click on the red PDF icon or the blue "Downloads" button to download the full pdf of the text). This online textbook is disseminated through Open Education Resource (OER) LibreTexts Project, making it freely available for reading, printing and "consuming."
Deep gratitude to the authors who worked passionately to put this out to the world: Kay Fischer, Mario Alberto Viveros Espinoza-Kulick, Ulysses Acevedo, Teresa Hodges, Melissa Leal, and Tamara Cheshire.
We will be using Canvas regularly. It is important you become quickly acquainted with it. You may download the Canvas app on your iPhone or Android mobile phone. First time using Canvas? Please learn how to login. Firefox is suggested as the best web browser for using Canvas, though all class material is designed to be compatible with any desktop or laptop computer equipped with a modern browser (i.e., Chrome or Safari).
