Infographics design is near and dear to my heart because I have been a visual designer most of my life before transitioning to the healthcare field and data analytics. Learning about graphics design through manually creating designs using photoshop / illustrator, kerning fonts pixel by pixel was such a tedious process back in the day. While it has it's limitations, having apps such as Venngage, genial.ly and Canva is such a treat because it reduces the pixel pushing time needed to create aesthetically pleasing designs. I really can see graphics / data visualization apps such as Venngage expand to different countries and different platforms.
Putting myself as an educator is quite different because the user experience for the educator is different than the experience of students. Now wearing the hat of a venture investor, my whole perspective changed to who the target market is, what can generate revenue while being able to solve a problem in the world. I do think the problem have been solved for the most part, but the expansion for this learning path may be to enhance some of the features for the platform. (i.e.: enhancing the mobile experience, eliminating paywall for basic functions, etc) There are parents of students who prefer the pencil-to-paper method of teaching rather than using apps or technology. If the UI can mimic real life / make it more simple to use, that is the most ideal.
I use Venngage quite often so I try not to be biased with my personal experience with the app. I have also used their competitors such as genial.ly and Adobe software. I find that all of them have their benefits and drawbacks. So it took me a while to decide to invest in Venngage because of their potential to support of 'big data' integration to create simple but beautiful data visualizations. This can really help small to large companies and non-profit organizations to cut down the time to generate reports. In the educational context, there is so much room to grow and I am excited to see if Venngage will support this target market in the future.
There are lots of exciting areas to explore.
