Project Description

For this project we had to research and present an emerging technology.

Topic

For this project I chose to research about Synthetic media. The reason I chose this topic was because I just felt like it was very interesting. I always see things about deepfakes, AI videos, and images and I wanted to really look more into synthetic media and how it can be helpful but also something very risky.

Interesting fact:

I would say that one interesting fact I learned was that Synthetic media actually reduces production cost. I always thought that everything related to AI was expensive but it seems like this method is actually cheaper compared to other AI methods.

Lesson Learned

This project helped me learn more about how AI tools can be beneficial but also very risky. I was able to learn more about Synthetic media, what types there are, the type of industries that use it, and how it's more of a machine learning process. I also was able to learn more about the benefits that it provides and how despite being risky, it can be helpful in many different ways. Overall, I think this was good way for me to be more informed about AI and the ways the risks it includes can be managed.
