For this project we had to research two articles about information security/cybersecurity reported by media and then evaluate them.
Two women from North Carolina were sentenced to federal prison after admitting to a scheme involving bank fraud and identity theft in Montana. The two stole identities and used that information to access customer bank accounts. They ended up carrying out 18 fraudulent cash withdrawals from 18 victims across 10 different financial institutions in Montana. In order to prevent this from happening we can use things like strong passwords, regularly check your accounts, use two-factor authenticators.

A Dutch healthcare software was vendor was knocked offline after a ransomware attack. Chipsoft is a company that provides hospitals with patient record software, serving around 80 percent of all facilities in the country. Many hospitals were impacted due to this attack. In order to prevent something like this from happening you could do regular software updates, data backups, using things like two-factor authenticators.

I would say that I had no idea that so many cyber-attacks could happen almost every day. When researching it was surprising to see many articles about all these different types of cyber attacks.
