The Governor Neil Abercrombie of proclaimed January 13th as "Patricia Polansky Day" in the state, honoring her long service to the state and to the University of Hawaii, as well as for her contributions to our profession and to Russian-American relations. Polansky was recently presented with Russia's Medal of Pushkin. The ceremony took place on November 11, 2011 in Hamilton Library. The Honorable Sergei Victorovich Lavrov presented Polansky with the award. He was accompanied by His Excellency, Ambassador of Russia, Sergey I. Kislyak. "The Medal of Pushkin is awarded for achievements in the fields of culture, education, human sciences, literature and art. It recognizes great contribution to the study and preservation of the cultural heritage of that country or for the promotion of cultural exchange."
