I.S.I.S. “Oscar Romero” is a public high school which offers various courses of study: Language, Human, Technical and Vocational Commercial school.
In 1980 our school has become autonomous. It was decided to dedicate our school to Oscar Romero, the Archbishop of San Salvador in order that students would not just reach excellent theoretical competences, rather would also acquire moral and civil values.
In our school there are 1150 students aged 14-19, 100 teachers and 30 members of staff.
It is located in the Seriana Valley, an industrialized area 13 km from Bergamo, our nearer town, and about 60 km from Milan. Industries in our area have played a great role in the economy of northern Italy and business relationships with EU countries have always been very important.
According to the different courses of study and the social context, the areas of specific expertise for our school are mainly the ones related to the business and marketing sectors, also at international level, and the foreign languages (English, French, German, Spanish and, starting from this year, Russian and Chinese). The areas of social studies are particularly relevant in the Human Studies course and inclusion of disabled students and students in need is a longstanding tradition in our school.
Our school believes in the importance of internationalization and cooperation among schools in the EU. According to its mission, the school has managed cross-curricular cooperation European projects for years (Comenius projects, EAO seminars Otzenhausen European Academy, exchanges with foreign schools, language learning weeks, individual incoming and outgoing students exchanges, working internships, Erasmus+, CLIL and Etwinning projects).
