Intro : This project is the second End of Year Project

Pitch : Meeting Phasmophobia and The Hunter : Call of the Wild in X-Files univers.

Synopsis : Adam Walker, cryptozoologist, investigates the disappearance of his friend. Last seen in an Ontario forest, he has not been seen since. He was investigating a strange creature.

Determined to shed light on the case and to prove that his friend is not crazy, Adam goes to the forest.

Intention : We wanted to make a horror game based on a horrific ambiance but also to initiate people to the cryptozoologie univers and learning about this creatures.

Duration: 19 days in a team of 10 people

Worldbuilding

My first task was to create a consistent world for our horror game based on our intentions. With the team, we determined which cryptid will be our monster and what about the story.

We wanted a cryptid that lives in a forest and is extremely hostile to humans. We found that the Wendigo i is a fairly well-known creature in pop culture, but quite mysterious to the uninitiated.

After that, I started my research on the Wendigo: place of life, behavior, power, etc... I found that he live in the cold forest on Ontario.

Based on the research, I exchange a lot with the Game Artist and the Level Designer about the world. I send reference to the artist a Level Designer. We add narrative element to justify the presence of our character and the Wendigo.

Game Documentation

I made High Concept Document for the team. It contains all the important elements in terms of gameplay and lore

Character Sheet

At the same time, I create a character sheet to identify who is the protagonist and wendigo and how they will act.

Thanks to this, I was able to write some voice line for our character.

Notebook

Our exotic mechanic was a physical notebook where the player can find the informations needed for the investigation.

The constrain was to write it like if it was Adam himself who wrote inside and immerse the player in the game.

In this notebook, there is : The clues for the investigation who are link each other, the lore about Adam, the cryptozoology, the monster and the people who lived in the place.
