The Final Duel
Rama had been working so hard to be a national champion that he lost sight of what he really and truly loved in life and that was Sita. Now that Sita gave Rama an ultimatum he knows what he had to do. He had to win the National Championship to win back the recognition of Sita and have her be his girlfriend again. This will be no small feat, however, as Ravana had been waiting for this day to take down Rama and be the best warrior golfer in the land.
Maricha had thought that once Rama lost Sita he would fall into a slump and his golf game would slip completely but the reverse actually happened. Rama continued with the strenuous practice schedule to get ready for the big tournament against Ravana. Ravana had been playing really good and dominating anyone in his path but he had not yet faced Rama.
The final duel was finally here and there were some serious nerves for Rama when he stepped on to the first tee. He knew he was not only playing for the National Championship but also for the heart of his one true love. Ravana started off the day hot by using some of his secret powers that no one else had. Ravana was able to play mind games with Rama and make him feel like he was not as good as he really was at that time. By using these mind games with Rama he was able to kill his confidence early on in the round. Rama having no confidence, Ravana was able to gain the momentum early. This was where Rama's college coach comes in to help him get past these bad thoughts Ravana was putting on him. Rama's college coach, Garuda, only comes into the story because he was a healer more than a coach. He was there to come alongside Rama and myself when we need to be lifted up rather than help us with our skill and talent. We made it to college on our ability through high school but some things like confidence are hard to be taught. Everyone needs that someone that can build you up when times are low. Garuda was able to get Rama's mind right for the final nine holes as he was losing by two shots.
The final nine holes begin and Ravana still knows in the back of his head that Rama was going to make a charge for the title. He knows that at the end of the day Rama will always find a way to come back and win. That was exactly what Rama does as he turns on the best golf of his life coming down the final stretch. Rama used his golf clubs as weapons on the golf course. Through these clubs he was able to use his great strength to outdrive Ravana by almost thirty yards on some holes. He also uses a hot putter to make some clutch-saving putts that keep him in the match all the way to becoming all square with Ravana with one hole to go. Everyone knows that Rama was gaining the momentum from Ravana by making these clutch putts. With Rama gaining all this momentum, the crowd can see that Rama is going to win his girl back and defeat Ravana for the title. The only person that can stop this from happening was Ravana but he was not able to stop what destiny has planned out. Rama makes birdie on the final hole by draining a 20 foot putt to defeat Ravana by one shot and win Sita's heart back.
Rama was so focused on winning back Sita that he did not even realize what else came with winning and that was the National Championship. Rama had gotten both of his trophies and was able to be himself at the end of the day. Rama was able to go out as King of the college golf world with his queen by his side.
Author's Note: The final battle between Rama and Ravana showcased a little of everything as the ending result was exactly as everyone expected. Ravana was a guy that always had special powers so that is how he was able to play mind games with Rama at the beginning of the round. Garuda was a healer in the actual story of the Ramanaya and he was able to heal some of Rama's troops in the battle of Rama and Ravana. I thought he would be an important part to the reason why Rama ends up beating Ravana in the end. I did not want him to be the main reason but I did want him to play a small part in why Rama was able to make it out on top. There was a little bit of drama at the end when Rama was able to make a come back on Ravana and win the title of National Champion. It was always meant to happen but I am glad I was able to tell it in a different way that is more personal to my own life. It shows that this story can still be relevant to our day and age. This is true in the actual story as well as Rama goes on to be king until he decided it is time to go back to the heavens with his brother.
