Chase of a Title

Rama had a goal that he set when he first made it to OU that he was going to be an epic golf hero and go on to win an individual National Championship title. This was inspired by his Rama's mentor, Maricha, but Maricha was not who he thought he was. Maricha had always seemed like he had Rama's best interest at heart but his mentorship was questioned by his actions once Rama was in college. Everyone knew that Sita was the most important thing in his life but Maricha had other plans for Rama's life. He started to believe that if Rama was too focused on Sita then he would lose his focus in his golf and the chance to be a great college golfer. This is why Maricha devised a plan that would make Rama believe that a National Title was the most important thing in his life.

Maricha knew that if he was going to convince Rama to focus more on golf he was going to have to get Sita to push him to it as well. He sat down with Sita and gave her a story how winning the championship would help set up his career that much more and really vault him to being the best of the best. He also hinted at the fact that Rama would have no time for her and she should break up with Rama now before she got too attached. Sita obviously did not break up with him at this moment but she was worried for what could be coming. Maricha had grown close to Rama through his years in high school as he was the golf coach of his team during that time. This was how he knew who Sita was as Rama and Sita had first met each other while both being in high school. Sita, who always wanted the best for Rama, went along with the story but did not like that she would have to be on her own. She felt as if Ravana had something to do with Maricha changing his ways and she was absolutely right. Rama had never known this but way before Rama and Maricha got together in a partnership, Maricha and Ravana had been friends from their hometown. Maricha had always had a special spot for Ravana and he saw his time to sabotage Rama he did. While he wanted Rama to do good he could not go against his hometown hero so he sided with Ravana. He knew that if Rama ever lost Sita his world would come crashing down around him.

Maricha set up a very intense practice schedule that would keep Rama busy for most hours of the day. He would have to get up early to work out, then head to classes all morning, and then head to golf practice that would last until dark. Doing these things each and every day made no extra time for Sita and she slowly became impatient with Rama. She understood that Rama was chasing a National Title but did not know why she got no time at all. Rama became so obsessed with his practice schedule that he did not ask Sita what her thoughts about it were. She had been supportive at first but as time went along her patience continued to dwindle.

Maricha's plan was falling right into place and he couldn't have been happier. He knew that as Rama practiced more, Sita would get fed up with not getting any attention and it would lead her to breaking up with Rama to prove a point. This is exactly what Sita did and she gave Rama an ultimatum. She told Rama that the only way she would go back to Rama is if he won the National Title. Rama was crushed but knew what he had to do.

Authors Note: I had to change up this story quite a bit but this was the story of how Sita wanted a Golden Deer and Rama did whatever he could to get this Deer for her. The Golden Deer was obviously the National Title and that is how Rama pulled away from Sita. In the actual story Maricha disguised himself as the deer because this was Ravana's plan to capture Sita. Instead of making Maricha an object I tried to put him in a position that he could still have an influence on Rama and force him to get away from Sita. I tried to make the story set up better in this day as kidnapping was not truly an option but Sita leaving him was. Maricha is still able to have the same outcome in my story and the same in the original. Sita was captured in the actual story through trickery from Maricha disguising his voice to sound like Rama and making him sound like he was in pain. This story is all setting up the epic battle between Rama and Ravana as Ravana is going to be the one Rama has to beat to win back Sita's heart and the National Title.
