The EPIC Trainings Series is an online four-part training program presenting practical evidence-based research on integrated care and interprofessional collaboration for those working with Children, Adolescents, and Transitional-Aged Youth. Trainings are created for professionals, students, faculty, and community members and are free and open to all. Description: This presentation will highlight the clinical and interprofessional strategies utilized by an interprofessional team consisting of social workers, an abolitionist community activist, and a peer specialist in the development and implementation of a pilot diversion intervention for emerging adults charged with felony gun possession in Philadelphia. Illustrated by examples from our practice, we will explore concepts of abolition, harm-reduction, interprofessional collaboration within the criminal legal system, group processes, and relational case management. The presentation will highlight the multimodal, multidisciplinary, and multilevel nature of the intervention, training participants in the protocol.

Description: This presentation highlights the critical role of collaboration between social workers and community health workers (CHWs) in optimizing psychosocial care for youths with sickle cell disease (SCD) in hospital settings. Attendees will explore the unique psychosocial challenges faced by SCD patients, including the impact of pain, stigma, and systemic barriers. The presentation will define the complementary roles of social workers and CHWs, showcasing effective communication strategies and patient-centered interventions through real-world case examples. Participants will gain actionable tools to address institutional challenges, foster culturally responsive care, and improve outcomes for SCD patients through interdisciplinary teamwork.

This two-part training series will explore comprehensive, integrated approaches to sex education for youth, with a focus on the needs of diverse groups. The first session, Healthy Sexuality in America with Erica Smith, will discuss the importance of comprehensive sex education for people of every age from children to adults, what topics should be covered for the promotion of ideal sexual health, best practices for providing sexuality education, and how purity culture plays a role in America's experience of sexual health. The second session, Integrating Sex Education in Social Work with Black Girls with Nhakia Outland, will focus on using an integrated care model to address the gaps in sex education for Black girls, emphasizing the crucial role social workers play in providing effective and culturally relevant sexual health education. Together, these trainings will equip participants withthe knowledge and tools to support healthy sexual development in young people, with an emphasis on inclusivity and holistic care.

Continuing Education (CE): Partial credit will not be awarded for late logins or early logouts. You must attend the entire session live and complete the posttest and CEU and Certificate of Attendance forms while in the live Zoom when the link is posted. Completion of either form after the live event has ended will not be accepted. If you have difficulty accessing the links when posted during the live event, please immediately reach out to an EPIC team member while still live via the chat or by raising your hand.
Pennsylvania: Two (2) CE credits will be awarded to participants who attend the entire session live. WCU has been designated as a pre-approved provider of professional Continuing Education (Section 47.36 (a)(1)) for LSW and LCSW social workers (Section 48.36(a)(1)) for LMFT, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, and (Section 49.23(a)(1)) for LPC, Licensed Professional Counselors by the PA State Board of Social Workers Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors in the state of Pennsylvania. Other participants may request a Certificate of Attendance, if desired. Pre-tests, Post-tests, and the CEU/Certificate of Attendance Request Forms must be completed before certificates can be issued.
Delaware: WCU is not state-approved to offer CEs for Delaware licensees, but EPIC Trainings may qualify and attendees may request a Certificate of Attendance. Delaware licensees assume the risk of assumption and responsibility that EPIC Trainings qualify for CEs. CE-specific regulations are in sections 7.2 - 7.2.5.1.2. lease request a Certificate of Attendance.
Other: Other attendees and licensees may request a Certificate of Attendance. Attendees assume the risk of assumption and responsibility that EPIC Trainings qualify for CEs or other recognition.
The EPIC Training Series is part of a research study. Participants are asked to complete an Informed Consent, pretest, and posttest.
