The EPIC Trainings Series is an online four-part training program presenting practical evidence-based research on integrated care and interprofessional collaboration for those working with Children, Adolescents, and Transitional-Aged Youth. Meagan Corrado, DSW, LCSW - Assisant Professor, Graduate Social Work, West Chester University; Storiez Trauma Narratives, LLC. “For every story of trauma, there are also stories of strength and resilience.” Meagan Corrado earned her clinical doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and her Masters of Social Services from Bryn Mawr College in 2009. As the owner and founder of Storiez Trauma Narratives, she has developed 22 original training programs and authored 10 books. Dr. Meagan specializes in work with children, teenagers, young adults, and families who have experienced trauma. For the past 16 years, Dr. Meagan has provided creative therapy to clients as they navigate trauma while also using their strengths to envision a more hopeful future. She incorporates storytelling, art, music, poetry, and play therapy in her clinical practice. She specializes in narrative and expressive arts therapies. She completed certificate programs in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, childhood sexual abuse treatment, cognitive behavioral therapy, and prolonged exposure therapy. In addition to her therapy practice, Dr. Meagan instructs graduate level students at West Chester University. She also provides trauma-informed support to systems.
Jane Golden, MFA - Executive Director, Mural Arts of Philadelphia. Jane Golden has been the driving force of Mural Arts Philadelphia since its inception, overseeing its growth from a small city agency into the nation’s largest public art program. Under her direction, Mural Arts has created over 4,000 works of transformative public art. In partnership with innovative collaborators, she has developed groundbreaking and rigorous programs that employ the power of art to transform practice and policies related to youth education, restorative justice, environmental justice and behavioral health. Golden currently serves as an adjunct professor at the University of Pennsylvania and as a board member of the Justice Arts Coalition.
Nicolas Mazza, PhD, MSW - Dean Emeritus, Patricia V. Vance Professor of Social Work Emeritus, College of Social Work, Florida State University. Dr. Mazza holds Florida licenses in psychology, clinical social work, and marriage and family therapy. He has been involved in the practice, research, and teaching of poetry therapy for over 50 years. Dr. Mazza is the founding (1987) and current editor of the Journal of Poetry Therapy: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Practice, Theory, Research, and Education. He is president and current board member of the National Association for Poetry Therapy (NAPT). In 1997, Dr. Mazza received the “Pioneer Award” from NAPT. Dr. Mazza, author of Poetry Therapy; Theory and Practice, 3rd Edition (2022) is a widely published scholar and poet. In addition to poetry therapy, Dr. Mazza has practiced, taught, and published in the areas of crisis intervention, death and trauma, family therapy, group work, clinical theories and models, and the arts in community practice. Dr. Mazza, a marathon runner, is the founder of the College of Social Work Arts and Athletics Community Outreach Program for At-Risk Youth established at Florida State University (FSU) in 2011. Dr. Mazza is a member of the National Association for Poetry Therapy (NAPT), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). He currently serves on the editorial boards of The Arts in Psychotherapy, the Journal of Family Social Work, and the Journal of Sociology and Social Welfare.
Description: This presentation highlights the experiences of three professionals who use storytelling, mural-making, and poetry to creatively support traumatized populations. Through this presentation, participants will be exposed to innovative ways to incorporate creativity into their own practice. They will also explore key questions related to scope of practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and measurement of therapeutic outcomes.

Christen Bradbury, CTRS, CCLS - Board Certified Recreational Therapist, Child Life Specialist -
Christen Bradbury spent her formative years in England, Brazil, and South Africa, and returned to the US to attend Ithaca College where she graduated with a degree in Recreation Therapy. During her career, she has worked in stroke/TBI, pediatric behavioral psych, special education, pediatric burn care, international disaster relief, management, clinical research, program development, and international clinical supervision. Christen currently provides domestic and international consultancy services with the main objectives of providing large-scale advocacy for children and vulnerable populations through the development and implementation of innovative and culturally aware programming, curricula, and resources.
Stephen C. Turley - Director, Boston Firefighters Burn Foundation - Stephen has been a dedicated member of the Boston Fire Department for the past 26 years, having started his career as an EMS and paramedic 30 years go. In 2003, he founded and became director of the Boston Firefighters Burn Foundation, a volunteer program for BFD members designed to “ease the suffering and hardships of burn victims/survivors and their families”. The program proudly support families with a variety of their needs post-injury, and collaborates with Shriners Hospitals for Children – Boston to run their community reintegration program. Steve is the proud father of 3 children.
Description: The process of reintegrating into the community following a long and difficult hospital stay can be overwhelming, stressful, and discouraging. Community reintegration programming, run by professionals in partnership with community organizations, provides opportunities to practice skills in a safe, supported, and sometimes even fun environment. This presentation reviews the design, collaboration, and implementation of a successful community reintegration program for pediatric burn survivors, that grew from a partnership between a hospital and the local fire department.

Natalie Loschiavo, RD, LDN, RYT - Dietician, Center for Families - Natalie is a registered and licensed dietitian in Pennsylvania and Delaware. She owns a group practice outside of Philadelphia that specializes in working with individuals with eating disorders in addition to many other nutrition-related conditions. Natalie has provided medical nutrition therapy for children, adolescents, adults, and families for well over a decade and sits on the board as a medical liaison for the Southwest Philadelphia chapter of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. In addition to her professional career, Natalie is the mother to her two-year-old son, Lincoln, and lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia with her family.
Laura Whitman, MEd, NCC, LPC - Clinical Supervisor, Center for Families - Laura brings nearly 20 years of experience in the mental healthcare field to her role at Center for Families. Before joining the CFF team, she served as a clinical director at LifeStance in Philadelphia, where she founded and facilitated a weekly outpatient group examining the intersection of identity, body image, sexuality, gender, and disordered eating. As a team leader and primary therapist for the day treatment program at the Renfrew Center in Radnor, Pennsylvania, Laura was responsible for clinical operations as well as training and supervision for post-doctoral and practicum-level students. She loves helping teens and families heal and says, “Being able to support someone else and help them become their authentic self is a gift.”
Laura holds a master’s in education from West Chester University in Pennsylvania, where she also completed a post-master’s program for professional counseling licensure. She is one of only 30 professionals in Pennsylvania trained to facilitate the grant-funded program Principles and Practices for Clinicians Working with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Intersex Individuals. She has presented at numerous professional conferences on topics including eating disorder awareness and intersectional eating disorder treatment.
Description: Presenters will review the historical role of dietary care providers in adolescent mental health care. They will delve into the rationale for increased collaboration with and emergence of dietary care provider voices in mental health spaces and conversations, with emphasis on disordered eating treatment. Presenters explore increasing acuity and complexity identified in teen care, along with the prevalence of need for treatment which has brought about a partnership between mental health clinicians and dietary providers. The need for integrated care is highlighted as an inclusive and comprehensive treatment. Audience members will be presented with case material on the benefits of utilizing a dual lens for greater treatment efficacy and improved client outcomes.
Replicable Models & Strategies to Reduce Generational Poverty

Asia Bijan Olieman, JD - Senior Associate, Grassroots Expansion, Results Educational Fund - From homeless to lawyer, Asia empowers people to achieve their dreams, regardless of the obstacles. Asia Bijan Olieman is an award-winning social justice activist, motivational speaker, and author. As a single mother of two and survivor of domestic violence and hunger, Asia’s persistence empowered her to go from being a homeless teenage mother of two to an honors graduate of New York Law School by the age of 27. Even at a young age, Asia demonstrates and teaches her incredible skills of self-determination, strength, and a positive attitude. Persistence, mindset, grit, and confidence are her gifts. Asia uses her life-changing story to motivate other people to make a difference in their own lives and reach for a greater purpose for all. A passionate anti-poverty, anti-hunger activist and speaker, Asia captivates audiences through storytelling and messages of hope. At the core of her inspirational messages is the importance of perseverance. Asia shared her message as an internationally recognized speaker with Congress, The New York Times, Huffington Post, and many other publications. She has taken the stage as a keynote speaker on many international platforms including at The National Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (FNCE) and the RESULTS’ International Conference for anti-poverty advocacy and lobbying. Currently, Asia works as a Senior Associate for Grassroots Expansion at RESULTS Educational fund working to bring more people with lived poverty experience to the table, and to Capitol Hill, by teaching them advocacy skills.
David Hage, Ph.D., MSW, LCSW, ACSW, C-ASWCM - Assistant Professor of Social Work/Field Director,
Misericordia University - Dr. Hage began his full-time appointment with Misericordia's Social Work Program in August 2016 as the Director of Field Education. Dr. Hage earned a BSW degree from Misericordia University, an MSW from Marywood University, and a Ph.D. from Concordia University Chicago in Leadership & Gerontology. Dr. Hage is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of Florida and Pennsylvania, a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW), a Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager (C-ASWCM), a Certified Advanced Aging Life Care Professional™, a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and the National Society for Leadership & Success (NSLS). Dr. Hage's practice experience includes work with economically disadvantaged children and families in low-income housing, a maternity home with pregnant women experiencing homelessness, at a rural community action agency, acute care inpatient rehabilitation hospital, and sub-acute and outpatient care environments with a primarily adult through geriatric population. Dr. Hage maintains a small part-time counseling and geriatric care management consulting practice in Dallas, PA and serves on the biomedical ethics and palliative care committees at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Katherine Pohlidal, BA, M.Ed., M.B.A., LPC, CADC - Director, Ruth Matthews Bourger Women with Children Program, Misericordia University - Katherine Pohlidal is the Director of the Ruth Matthews Bourger Women with Children Program at Misericordia University and the lead developer for the Parent Pathways of Northeastern Pennsylvania program. With over 25 years of experience as a clinician, case manager, treatment provider and administrator in clinical treatment settings, Katherine has worked for the Caron Foundation and in the last 18 years, within higher education at both Ursinus College and Misericordia University. She holds a B.A.in Sociology as well as a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Penn State University and a M.B.A from Alvernia University. Katherine is a Pennsylvania state certified addictions counselor (CADC) and a Pennsylvania state licensed professional counselor (LPC). Katherine has been featured in both local and national news with the Today Show, NPR StoryCorps, the New York Times and the Associated Press for her work with the Women with Children Program and the FARMU initiative at Misericordia. She was named one of the 20 most influential women in Northeastern Pennsylvania through the Times Leader’s Distinctive Women of 2018.
Description: This program will share lessons learned by the presenters focused on replicable models for reducing generational poverty. This will include the first-hand perspective of a program participant who went from homelessness to stability, and a rewarding career focused on advocacy. Misericordia University’s award-winning Ruth Matthews Bourger Women with Children program and the Parent Pathways of Northeastern Pennsylvania models of poverty reduction will be examined in detail.
Continuing Education (CE): Partial credit will not be awarded for late logins or early logouts. You must attend the entire session live and complete the posttest and CEU and Certificate of Attendance forms while in the live Zoom when the link is posted. Completion of either form after the live event has ended will not be accepted. If you have difficulty accessing the links when posted during the live event, please immediately reach out to an EPIC team member while still live via the chat or by raising your hand.
Pennsylvania: Two (2) CE credits will be awarded to participants who attend the entire session live. WCU has been designated as a pre-approved provider of professional Continuing Education (Section 47.36 (a)(1)) for LSW and LCSW social workers (Section 48.36(a)(1)) for LMFT, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists, and (Section 49.23(a)(1)) for LPC, Licensed Professional Counselors by the PA State Board of Social Workers Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors in the state of Pennsylvania. Other participants may request a Certificate of Attendance, if desired. Pre-tests, Post-tests, and the CEU/Certificate of Attendance Request Forms must be completed before certificates can be issued.
Delaware: WCU is not state-approved to offer CEs for Delaware licensees, but EPIC Trainings may qualify and attendees may request a Certificate of Attendance. Delaware licensees assume the risk of assumption and responsibility that EPIC Trainings qualify for CEs.
