1. Coaching Tool

Project- and problem-based learning (PBL) are dynamic approaches to teaching that have become a vital part of modern science and engineering education, hence being the educational approach and cornerstone on which our EPICES projects are modelled.

During these projects groups of students work on a problem or assignment for a longer period of time, in dialogue with a coach who facilitates the students’ guided-independent learning. Therefore, the correct interpretation of the coaching is crucial for the success of a project.

The EPICES Coaching Tool offers you the optimal coaching method* for your specific EPICES project:

- Provides the coach with the optimal coaching method based on the characteristics of his project.

- Provides the coach with the accompanying guidelines and tips

  • The Coaching Profiles (CP) generated by the Coaching Tool were conceived to function as a general starting point and support line for the coaches during their EPICES projects. They are intended as a guidance tool and are not expected to be followed blindly by the coaches. They should be used with the necessary consideration and complemented with personal experience and insights.

  • The generated CP is based on the original characteristics of the EPICES project when it starts, during its course changes (content, competences, educational setting, ...) may occur which will force the coach to reconsider or complement this CP using their own experience and insights.
