Identifying and selecting artifacts for showing evidence of development and performing a self-assessment
To enter artifacts on a program competency you need to explain the evidence through five steps. As a guide and expected word length is included below:
Explain what you understand as the meaning of the competency in relation to your course goals, in your own words, and what artifacts you have selected
Add a brief description for each artifact and why you have selected them
Referring to your artifacts what are your strengths in relation to this competency
Referring to the proficiency chart, rate yourself in each skill and justify how the artifacts indicate your level of proficiency
Move the slider to reflect your own assessment
Please ensure that your artifacts show evidence of this progress
You are not being compared with anyone else or to a set “standard”
This is an ongoing process that extends across and beyond courses
Going forward, what are your specific goals in relation to this competency?
An artifact is a piece of evidence that shows your development in the program competencies. This could be assignments, aspects of assignment, course materials used by you, videos / images from this class or other classes.
From your shared course Drive folder, hit the three dots next to the “Competency proficiency charts” folder (see attached example)
Once you hit “Download”, the folder will be saved as a .zip file on your laptop
Extract the files from this .zip file on your machine
This will create the relevant folder with the files in it
Edit the settings in your Google Drive to convert uploaded files to Google format
Navigate to “Settings” through the gear icon
Check the box that says “Convert uploads to Google Docs editor format”
Upload the extracted folder to your own folder in Google Drive (not the shared drive)
Your proficiency charts are now ready to be edited
Choose the level 1 or level 2 self-assessment chart
If you’ve previously chosen level 1, move to the level 2 chart
Read the description in the boxes
Move the slider (yellow box) to reflect your self-assessment of your development in this competency
Upload this chart to the relevant competency page on your portfolio
Your chart here will update as and when you make changes to this file in your Drive folder
