Lovebirds

● These are very good talkers, some are known to have a vocabulary of 50+ words.
● This bird is known as a true parrot, meaning they are highly intelligent and require lots of mental
stimulation from toys or foraging boxes!
African Grey Parrot
● This type of bird should be housed in a minimum sized cage of 32x20 inches.
● They can live 40-60+ years with proper care
● This type of bird is likely to bond with just one person, so families must be diligent in handling the bird
the same amount of time!
● These guys can learn 50+ words, phrases and sounds!
Indian Ringnecks
● Minimum cage requirement is a 24x20, but a 32x20 would better suit their needs
● These birds can live up to 35 years
● This would not be a very good beginner bird. They are very temperamental and go through a heavy
bluffing phase.
● Their vocabularies are around 40 words and phrases.
Quaker Parrot
● Require a 24x20 cage or bigger. They do tend to become cage aggressive, so it is important to replace
the toys every couple weeks to “reset” their environment.
● They are very good talkers, with a vocab of 40-50 words and phrases.
● These guys are very prone to fatty liver disease, and should not be fed sunflower seeds.
● They are very active birds, and require a great deal of mental stimulation.

● Minimum cage size would be an 18x18.
● They live 15-20 years
● They are not great talkers, they could maybe learn 10 words/phrases with proper training
● These are very sweet natured birds. They love to play and chew on stuff, so it is important for them to
have lots of toy options in and outside of the cage!

● They live 60-80 years
● Exceptional talkers. Most learn how to sing entire songs!
● IF all family members interact with the bird, they can be great as a family pet! Some do choose one
person in the home to be their best friend, but will still interact with all other family members!
Blue and Gold Macaw
● Minimum Cage Requirement is a 40in playtop cage, but should be kept is a 60in playtop
● Life expectancy is 80-100 years
● Really great talkers when taught
● These birds are very playful, almost like dogs! They require a ton of attention! They are very smart and
do best in mentally stimulating homes!
