This is a job safety certification that MBSA academy members are required to complete during their junior year. They learn about personal protective equipment and rules and regulations in their MBSA classes. Students obtain a card certifying that they completed their 10 hours.
In order to obtain this certification, students first go through formal training in their Health Science II Honors class their junior year. They have to pass the written exam first and then simulate performing urgent life skills to provide treatment for life-threatening cardiac emergencies such as cardiac arrest and stroke.
Students who completed the national "STOP THE BLEED" training and also earned the career-focused "NAFTrack Certification" through their high school academy (NAF - National Academy Foundation). You get a Stop the Bleed certificate by taking a course from an authorized provider (MBSA) to learn bleeding control skills, and NAFTrack Certification requires completing work-based learning and skills assessments.
CLASS OPTIONAL CERTIFICATES
Enloe MBSA students can take the CNA course senior year to earn their certification to be qualified to work after high school.
MBSA students can take the PharmTech course to be certified to work in pharmacutical settings after high school.
MBSA students can take the EMT course their senior year through WakeMed to also get certified in the field once they graduate.
