The purpose of this project was to bring in donations for the animal shelter. Our group's project was a donation box for the Glynn County Animal Shelter to help them collect supplies for the animals. We chose this topic because we both felt a need to help animals and it felt right to do. Me and my partner worked well together and made every decision about the project together. We both had an end result we wanted to see and would do anything to help these animals in need.
We used two main rhetorical appeals which were pathos and logos. We used the emotion side of pathos by showing what the animal's life was like, when humans see any living thing in need it is almost a natural instinct to jump in and help it in any way they can, and then we used logos to persuade them into donating and giving them a better life, the reason we gave them was that if the animal shelter had some help with money or items they could spend more money on helping more homeless animal off the road and possibly into their forever home.
We thought that if we used these types of appeals to get to the people seeing animals in need they would be more likely to donate and want to help. When you see sad animal commercials on the tv the first thing you want to do is find a way to help them. As college students me and my partner really couldn't provide that much to help money wise but this was a way for us to help get the word out and help as much as we could. We used the book that was mandatory for the class and many online websites to figure out to persuade people into donating. To get people to do things that you want you first have to figure out why they do it.
