Group's Reflection

As a group, we have struggled to understand the materials, perhaps because we only think the main idea of becoming a teacher is to teach the students. But to become a great teacher, we need to set our foundation first. What we want to make and give to our students, how they will gain knowledge from our class or materials, and perhaps what they will learn and feel about our teaching methods During the process, we learned by making many mistakes and changes to our module. To be honest, it makes us sick of the module and gives us a headache every time we discuss the material. We made a lot of mistakes during the progress, but Mr. Markus said that we needed to make mistakes to learn better, and after some explanations from the lecturer, we finally understood that the first thing that we needed to do when we made a module was to determine our main goal. The main goal consists of our base ideas and what we want from students in classroom learning. The next part is that we have to set our goals, and then we have to implement the process. The last part is what will they get at the end of the lessons. The big takeaway from this process is that it improves our creativity, imagination, and critical thinking because these are the skills that we use in the process of making the module. By completing the module, we can imagine what a teacher usually does outside of the classroom. Becoming a teacher is not as hard as we think as long as it’s our passion, but we need to remember that one method is not enough because each student has their own method for learning and comprehending the materials.

Individual Reflections

To be honest, this PT1 is hard for me. I like to learn new things but it is too chaotic in my mind. So, I need to process the information inside my head very quickly because of the limited time. This is also proof that being a teacher is not easy as it looks. I cannot imagine how every teacher creates a module for their students. The teacher needs to see the background of their students. Because when the teachers make some goals, they need to think about students' needs in the class. I will be honest from now on, The teacher's job is a job that cannot be underestimated. Because this work will consider various things and must use our reason and rationality toward goals, lesson plans, and assessments. If yesterday I was a little moved to become a teacher, now I am quite considering becoming one. This actually did not completely reduce my enthusiasm to become a teacher. Precisely on the other hand, I want to enter this world to make it easier how the education system works for its students and maybe make new breakthroughs for education in Indonesia.

For me, making this learning module is hard and challenging but it also helps me to be creative. At first, it feels hard because my friend and I do not understand the rationale of the module yet. We just make learning plans that we thought are suitable for the students. However, after a few meetings, I started to understand more about the rationale of the learning module. I also started to be aware of my previous mistake in creating the learning module so I can adjust the learning module based on the correct rationale. After understanding the basics, I feel like making the learning module is getting more enjoyable even though it is still challenging. Creating this learning module helps me to make suitable lesson plans and assessments for the target students. I have to think about the student’s point of view of the lesson plan before deciding on the lesson plan in the learning module.

At first, I think becoming a teacher is easy, but this lesson has made me realize that it is not as easy as we think. Only the module of our class makes me use my brain to the limit. Besides all of the difficulties, there are some lessons that I can get from the process of making the module. I become more careful when I make something for others, like the module. I need to be open-minded and creative also increase my critical thinking when creating the module. To make something for others, we also have to imagine ourselves as the ones who will receive it. By doing so, we can realize the lack of our production. The conclusion is that we have to select the target of our productions. Products that we make if we don’t set the goal and the target, it will be pointless.
