Overshadowed by the conflict in Ukraine, Yemen is still suffering the World’s worst humanitarian crisis. For more than 7 years, people in Yemen have been living through a horrific war. According to the UN, the conflict in Yemen has made more than 24.1 million which is 80 % of the population need humanitarian aid.
The war conflict between a coalition led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE and The Houthi rebels who control the capital and western parts of the country. Destruction because of the war has made millions displaced internally and starve due to cuts in food supplies. Many people don’t get food for 2 – 3 days and are living on sugar and water.
The war has caused widespread hunger and poverty in Yemen, leaving millions of children malnourished. According to UNICEF children in Yemen suffer permanent mental and physical damage due to malnutrition. Already weakened health systems have been further devastated by the impact of COVID–19 pandemic.
The country is so insufficient in resources that it is estimated that 16.2 million people in the country will face high levels of acute food shortages with an estimated 21,000 children at risk of falling into famine.
Another critical factor that underscores the importance of Humanitarian aid in Yemen is the destruction of infrastructure. The ongoing conflict has caused significant damage to the country’s roads, bridges, Hospitals, and other essential facilities. The destruction has made it difficult to deliver aid to those in need and has further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis.
Humanitarian aid organizations have been working to rebuild critical infrastructure and deliver vital supplies, such as food, water, and medical supplies, to those in need. However, this is a challenging task that requires significant resources and cooperation between multiple organizations.
In conclusion, humanitarian crisis in Yemen is a multifaceted and complex issue that occurs that requires a concerted effort from the international community to address. Humanitarian aid is critical to meet the immediate needs of the Yemeni people, as well as promoting stability and peace in the country. However, the situation in Yemen is a long-term crisis that requires sustained support and collaboration between multiple organizations. While there is no simple solution to the crisis in Yemen, Humanitarian Aid provides a critical lifeline to those in need and represents an important step towards addressing the underlying causes of the conflict.
The people in Yemen are suffering just because they lived till the day when no one is actually helping them in need. This is how important humanitarian aid is in the period of conflict as the war led a country that was once known as “THE HAPPY LAND” is on the verge of becoming a "NO MAN'S LAND".
