Some sports are very popular in the UK or in the USA, but they are not well-known in Belgium, Europe or the rest of the world. Choose one of these "weird sports" and discover the history, the rules and the traditions.
Once you've chosen a sport, you'll need to get some information about this sport. It's not easy to find good sources, so your teachers selected a few videos and/or texts for you to work with. Click on the sport you've chosen, and you can start working on the assignment.
STEP 1: Read the texts and watch the videos that your teacher selected for you. Look for information about these topics:
The history - How old is the sport? Where does it come from?
The setup - What do you need to play this sport? What do you need to do before you can start playing?
Start of the game - How does the game start?
Playing rules - What are the rules to play this sport?
End of the game - How does the game end?
STEP 2: Put all of this information in a Word document. Use the spelling and grammar check to correct your text.
STEP 3: Post this file in the upload zone on Smartschool.
You need to present this sport in class with a presentation.
STEP 1: Choose a format. You can use any format you like: PowerPoint, Canva, Genially,...
STEP 2: Make one slide per topic. Respect the 7 x 7 rule (= for each slide in your presentation, you should use no more than: 7 lines (or bullets) per slide. 7 (or fewer) words per line )
STEP 3: Use images to support the information.
STEP 4: Post this file in the upload zone on Smartschool.
STEP 1: Practice your text. Make sure you know it by heart. At the end of the presentation, you ask 3 quiz questions.
STEP 2: Practice your pronunciation. As you know, practice makes perfect, so start practising your text. If you're not sure how to pronounce a word, look it up in an online dictionary like https://www.ldoceonline.com/ OR use the immersive reader in Word to listen to your text.
STEP 3: Make cue cards just in case... Make one cuecard per slide. Note down key words, not full sentences. You hand in your cuecards at the end of your presentation.
