Week 4 Reflection

This week we really jumped into our quick project of imagining and designing a product that fixes a "problem". We immediately thought of something that was very likely to be used by many and was simple to engineer. The last thing we wanted to do was create something that was over engineered and have no one use it. So our product was a toothbrush/bathroom holder. Reasoning was again backed by our philosophy of not over engineering. The holes for the toothbrush are simply drilled and the material chosen was Cedar for it's weather/moisture resistant properties. Few things to keep in mind is that we constantly backtracked with new ideas and adjustments. I don't think any product is truly perfectly engineered. Struggles is that there are many micro adjustments that we had to make. First we considered pine due to price but after some research finding that pine may expand due to moisture. We decided to choose Cedar which is unfortunately double in cost. Our team took time and cooperative measures to make this project work.
