Engaged Learning at TCC is a dedicated program designed to elevate the educational experience for students.
It places a strong emphasis on faculty development, ensuring that professors continuously enhance their teaching techniques and approaches. By doing so, the program seeks to provide students with an enriched learning environment that aligns with their diverse learning styles and preferences.
Through specialized initiatives such as the Academy for Teaching Excellence (ATE), faculty members are empowered to deliver high-quality education, ultimately aiming to enhance student success and satisfaction throughout their academic journey at the college.

Meet your Instructional Design Team:
Dr. Jennifer Dunaway is an Instructional Designer in the Engaged Learning Division. She began working at TCC in 1997 as a Student Activities Assistant and then Student Life Director before joining the Engaged Learning Instructional Design team in 2021. Dr. Dunaway has an B.S. in Human Health & Performance, an M.A. in College Teaching from Northeastern State University, and a Ph.D. in Workforce & Adult Education from Oklahoma State University. She has participated in numerous Quality Matters professional development courses that focus on the rubric addressing best practices in online instruction. She also has certification in CTI-Course Design in AI in Course Instructions and in Mental Health First Aid. She has taught Nutrition and College Success classes at TCC for a combined 26+ years.
Yeng Lor is an Instructional Designer in the Engaged Learning Division. She is brand new, having started at TCC on August 12 of this year! Prior to joining the college, she worked as a background screening researcher, where she also updated learning manuals and training materials. She has a B.S. in Medical Sciences and a M.Ed. in Learning Sciences from the University of Oklahoma.
Christal Strickland is an Instructional Designer in the Online Learning Division. Dr. Strickland earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Oklahoma State University. She has an M.Ed. in Adult & Higher Education from the University of Oklahoma. Her B.S. is in Secondary Biology Education from Southeastern State University. She joined the Online Learning Division in 2022 as an Instructional Designer and is a College Success course instructor. Prior to that, she taught undergraduate education courses at Oklahoma State University, secondary level science courses, and was an athletic coach. She is a Quality Matters Coordinator, she revised and facilitates Course Developer Certification, and developed the Blackboard Ultra Start Up Workshop.

Faculty Development Fellows work in collaboration with EL high-impact practice faculty coordinators and staff members, with EL professional staff, including instructional design faculty and staff members, and potentially, with Academic Affairs and Student Success & Equity professional staff members. The position reports to the EL dean regarding the work of the position.
Faculty Development Fellows Program Goals
Create and expand a network of faculty who operate as co-facilitators of faculty professional development programming.
Strengthen connections between faculty across Schools, divisions, departments, and employment status.
Facilitate development of evidence-based pedagogical approaches.
Help provide leadership and resources for evidence-based pedagogical approaches.
Global Learning Coordinator, Dr. Doug Price oversees the Global Learning program and creates opportunities for students to learn more about global experiences.
Honors Coordinator, Kirk Brewer oversees the Honors Program. Reviews the Honors course schedule. If you have students who are curious, motivated, and want to explore subjects more deeply, TCC’s Honors Program provides the extra something they are looking for. Smaller Honors classes offers more opportunities to interact with professors and other like-minded students. The Honors Scholar Program qualifies students for tuition waivers, helps prepare you for transfer to a four-year university, enhances your resume, and increases your chances for scholarships there as well.
Service-Learning Coordinator, Dr. Deanna Cooper and Dr. David Paige oversee the Service-Learning opportunities at the college.
Undergraduate Research Coordinators, Mona Easterling and Heather Wilburn work with students and other faculty on the development of undergraduate research in TCC courses.
