Attendance must be confirmed (recorded) during the schedule adjustment period, by the “drop with no charge” deadline, which varies by the part of the term start date. It is also the dates reflected in the attendance confirmation deadline column. Faculty will receive auto-generated reminders from Banner as these deadlines near to help ensure that commencement of attendance is recorded on time.
A WN should be assigned (with no date) for any student who does not commence attendance in the course. WNs are assigned after the drop deadline but by the WN submission deadline. Please do not assign WNs during the schedule adjustment period or the student will be prevented from dropping the class because a WN counts as a grade.
Per the Faculty Handbook AY23-24, edition, FH.05.B – Class Records, after the first day of class, students have a certain amount of time to attend or, for online classes, to participate in the class. For sixteen-week courses, students must attend or participate during the first two weeks of the term. For eight-week courses, students must attend or participate during the first week of the term. For all other parts of term, please refer to the “Add, Drop, or Withdraw Dates” posted on the TCC website.
